designer ideas ltd t/a warren evans is a privately owned company that manufactures and sells bedroom furniture products, along with mattresses and bed linen.
we recognise that our operations use energy and resources that result in emissions and the generation of waste. it is our aim to reduce our environmental impacts and to operate in an environmentally responsible manner. this policy describes how we will achieve this.
responsibility
our sustainable development manager manages our environment policy with the support of the senior management team. this team includes people from all of our sites. however, all employees are aware of their responsibility to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
legislation
warren evans are proactive adopters of legislative requirements. we make it our business to know when new uk or eu legislation comes into force.
resources
we will ensure that resources are available to enable us to achieve our objectives and targets. we will utilise environmental audits from external bodies to keep us up to date with best practice.
objectives
each year we commit to:
reducing general waste and landfill by reusing our timber off-cuts and shavings as fuel. we aim to reuse paper, cardboard, timber pallets, ink cartridges, mobile phones and other products as the opportunity arises. that which we cannot reuse, we aim to recycle.
- minimising our vehicle emissions wherever possible
- minimising our use of electricity, water and diesel wherever possible
- compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards and codes to which the company subscribes
- purchasing materials from sustainable sources
- maintaining premises and equipment to avert the risk of any environmental damage to water, land, flora and fauna
- advising staff, customers, suppliers, the general public and local organisations of our policy and achievements (eg newsletters, pr, website, company handbook etc.)
- monitoring and auditing our progress against our objectives each quarter.
- looking for ways to continuously improve our activities.
warren evans are striving towards a more sustainable future this is seen by the accreditation of the internationally renowned certification iso 14001. warren evans are continually improving their environment and lessening their impact.
