Choosing your handmade bed
Our staff often get asked for a few tips on how to buy a bed. Here's the really quick version if you're in a hurry and you want a Warren Evans handmade wooden bed:
- Decide on the size of bed you need
- Choose the style of bed you like
- Choose the finish you like from our selection
- Choose a mattress from our range including organic and memory foam
- Add under bed storage boxes if you need them, or matching bedside cabinets.
Then hit 'Place Order'. You're done - we'll phone you back and sort out the details. Not only that, if you come into the showroom and change your mind, there's no obligation to buy.
More tips
When you're calculating the space that the bed will fit into, don't forget to measure from the skirting boards, not the walls.
Choose a bed with thick, wide slats, like all of ours - they'll support your weight better (and withstand your kids jumping all over the bed).
Check that the supplier can deliver and assemble your new bed. Building a bed from scratch can be problematic and will never be as sturdy as when built by professionals.
To test the sturdiness of a mattress, pick it up at one end - it should be heavy, meaning it is made from natural fibres or thick wadding. It definitely shouldn't fold in the middle.
If you're buying a bed for a little room, avoid dark wood - it's likely to make the room look even smaller.
